Prevention and Management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers Certificate
This online diabetic wound care certificate course is offered in partnership with the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), and includes information from the Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC) regarding prevention and management of Diabetes Foot Ulcers. This course provides an educational framework for health care providers such as foot care nurses and certified foot care nurses (CFCN), to achieve a basic level of competence in the management of diabetic persons with foot ulcerations.
As a foot care nursing association, our goal is to collaborate and provide current relevant information on prevention and management of Diabetes related foot health issues that can benefit both client and nurse. Such a course will benefit the foot care nurse providing diabetic foot care in private practice and any health care setting.
Module Content Includes:
Wound etiology for the diabetic foot
Wound care assessments
Identify differential between arterial
Venous, neuropathic ulcer
Vascular assessment use of Doppler
Recognize how sensory motor autonomic neuropathy affects development of a diabetic ulcer
Classification and staging system for the diabetic foot ulcer
Pressure related to a neuropathic ulcer
Management of Charcot foot
Treatment strategies including adjunctive therapies
The overall aim of this course is to equip the foot care nurse or certified foot care nurse providers with the assessment and management skills required to care for patients with diabetic foot ulcers. As a result, the foot care nurse, upon completion of this course will receive a certificate of completion and will be certified to care for diabetic ulcers.
Registered with your nursing association as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Practical Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse working a Certified Foot care Nurse CFCN, or any registered nurse with an interest in learning more about Prevention and Management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers must be in good standing with your college

Once the online course module is purchased and confirmed, participants will be sent a login access to take the course via email. There is no refund of tuition fees after payment is made and online access is issued for this course module.
After login to the online module, you will have online access for a period of one year. Each unit module takes approximately 20-45 minutes to complete, and at the end of each module there is a final quiz.
Pass mark for the end of modules test is 80%
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued a certificate of completion for their records.
