Why Become Board Certified as a Foot care Nurse - CFCN
The Foot care Nurse certification is voluntary process that is offered to any nurse who is practicing basic and advanced nursing foot care. Nurses includes: Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and License Practical Nurses, the Certified Foot care Nurse Certification - CFCN is offered to any nurse who have completed a Basic and Advanced Nursing Foot care program whose foot care program includes nursing foot care competencies as per the Foot care Nurse Certification Board, Registered Nurses Association Best Practice guidelines for diabetes foot care, College of Nurses of Ontario infection control standards, Health Canada Foot care infection Control standards, and Advanced Nursing Foot care Standards.
Foot care nurse Certification is a voluntary recognized credential for registered nurses, registered practical nurses, nurse practitioners, and license practical nurses that meet specific nursing practice criteria as a foot care nurse practicing foot care.
If the nurse does not meet nursing practice criteria, a foot care course refresher may be required prior to the competency exam-based testing that is required for certification. This online competency basic and advanced nursing foot care exam is offered by the College of Health Studies. The credential, which must be renewed every 2 years, confirms that an RN, NP, RPN, and LPN, has demonstrated competence in Basic and Advanced Nursing Foot care and having met current Foot care Nurse Competencies and Standards of practice.
